OUR MISSION TOWARDS A SUSTAINABLE BUSINESS
We didn’t wait for change to be forced upon us. We took a holistic look at our business and made a conscious effort to do better and be better now, not tomorrow.

PROTECT OUR PLANET.
BikeSportz does not look far for sustainability inspiration. We’re all aware that cycling is inherently good for us and our planet. There are few more convincing and holistic examples of a single activity contributing to positive social, economic and environmental well-being. So, we take our sustainability cue from the very activity that is the life force of our industry - cycling. Focusing on the three pillars of social, economic and environmental wellness, we champion and build mutually empowering relationships and a genuine business culture that drive real change for good.
True sustainability must be all-encompassing.
It cannot be a single gimmick that ticks a solitary environmental box, a hollow social marketing initiative devised primarily to drive sales or an isolated staff incentive to score brownie points. To use a bike analogy, sustainability needs to be part of the business drivetrain. At BikeSportz, it’s front-and-centre in so much of what we do. Here’s just a taste of how we’re turning into a green business…
Office and warehouse solar panels, clear roof panels, motion-sensing warehouse lighting and tinted northeast-facing windows minimise our reliance on other energy sources.
Only electric vehicles, including forklifts, are in operation across our warehouse. This mitigates the use of petrol or diesel, encourages cleaner air in the workplace and reduces costs to the business.
We separate and recycle office and warehouse cardboard from general waste, sending it to local recycling plants.
Our industrial shredder turns unwanted cardboard into filler packaging and makes bubble wrap redundant.
We use sustainable packaging, such as double-seal parcels that enable customers to return items in their original packaging.
Recycling is key, but our overarching aim is to reduce waste full-stop. We work closely with our warehouse operations team and brands to minimise packaging across the board.
We also separate ferrous and non-ferrous metal waste from general rubbish and send this to a local recycling plant.
Acting on behalf of Bosch, we collect any old batteries and return them for recycling.
To avoid landfill, we send away broken parts, such as computers, to be refurbished to brand new and then used as warranty service parts.
We’re working hard to become a more environmentally-friendly business.
We’ve been officially declared a Great Place to Work!
Although many of our team members commute by bike (no surprise!), working from home is possible.
We hold ‘Mindful Fridays’ whereby each team member can take one afternoon off every summer month to enjoy the great outdoors.
Monthly workshops and lunches to support anyone’s birthday are also a dedicated part of our workplace culture calendar, including well-being initiatives such as yoga, AFL footy tipping, and a Strava account with regular cycling and walking challenges. No cheating allowed!
We also encourage group social activities that strengthen team camaraderie and give us all a chance to move our minds out of work.
We believe these business enhancements have made a positive impression on our people, partners and planet. And we won’t stop here - stay tuned for more to come.
