The first Northwave MTB shoe was created by founder Gianni Piva in 1993. Bright colours and technical advancements where key to his success.
As the years went by, Northwave products reached Pro Tour status with Ivan Gotti winning the Giro d’Italia. The brand also saw victory with Poala Pezzo taking out her second Olympic gold at the 2000 Olympic games, whilst wearing the first pieces of the Northwave apparel range. From this success, superstars like Mario Cipollini join the team and build further success taking out the top step at numerous global events.
A Focus on product development followed Northwave producing the first ever winter shoes with Gore-Tex in 2005 with the new Fahrenheit and Celsius models.
Moving into 2013, Northwave took a bold step to re-design the dial closure system with their own patented SLW2 dial. This dial is still the only product offering step-by-step adjustment and complete opening through just one button.
More sporting superstars have since worn the brand and helped further develop each area of the products you see today. Expert feedback from athletes like Alexander Kristoff, Roman Kreuziger, Annette Edmondson, Manuel Fumic, Sabine Spitz, Cedric Gracia and Yoann Barelli have been instrumental.
Today we have a complete range of products offering race proven designs, bold colours and advanced technologies.
